Hi, I'm Bob Foster, the president of ORSIF, and I just wanted to invite you to a virtual CME symposium happening this month that I think is really important, and so do a lot of others. There's a real movement in interventional cardiology, radiology, and related specialties where we are all paying a lot closer attention to our own safety as well as the care for our patients. And that's really what ORSIF is all about. We advocate for safer practices, better protection, and institutional support to make sure that people caring for others are not put at unnecessary risk themselves.
Our mission is driven by the belief that patient safety and healthcare worker safety must be held at the same standard. ORSIF is the only nonprofit focused entirely on occupational radiation safety. We are supported by a fantastic roster of corporate sponsors who are innovators in this space. I would encourage you to join ORSIF today to go ahead and be part of our global community of people who love their work and are committed to safety.
Once you've joined, consider registering for SIRP, the Global Symposium on Interventional Radiation Protection. It's a webinar that will be on demand following the event, so no travel is required. You'll earn CME credits and you'll gain a lot of insight from top professionals from all over the world in this field. And you'll have great takeaways to help better protect yourself and your teams.
Look, when physicians, rad techs, nurses, and other staff are unable to work due to health issues caused by their own work environment, that should wake people up. That's fewer medical staff to care for patients. Hospital administrators will also notice that's loss of revenue. So you have this disruption all up and down the chain. These are safety issues that could lead to healthcare workers with afflictions that could possibly even shorten their careers. There are far too many stories and examples that I could tell you.
Those of us in this field are passionate about what we do and we're laser focused on patient outcomes. But sometimes it's at the detriment of our own health and safety. We certainly want to encourage people to enter these exciting fields and show them that it can be done safely. That's why I'm asking you to join ORSIF. It's free and only takes a minute to sign up. And once you're signed in, you can claim a 20% discount on the registration for SIRP on September 26th and 27th.
Thank you and stay safe.
